Welcome to Understood-Accepted's

The concept of this contest was stolen from Amarantheans , who has held the "Awareness of the Arts" contests the last two years running, with loads of success. I liked the idea of pairing up visual and literature artists so much that I want to do something. So what is happening you ask?

Theme and Information

The theme for this contest is "New Beginnings". I've purposefully left it a bit broad so that you can use any ideas within the theme.

What happens, you ask? Well, simple. You sign up to do either a literature piece or an artwork of any form (traditional, manipulation, photograph, pixel, etc) but note you will be paired with someone doing the opposite (so a literature signup will be paired with an artist signup) or you can sign up in pairs - NOTE: Although this contest is run by the group you don't have to be in the group to enter so you can signup with a friend (or frenemy) from outside the group. The group is just the platform through which I am choosing to host the contest.

So, you've signed up as a pair, or you have been paired, what next? In your pairs decide between you who will make the first artwork. The second person will write, or draw, based on the first artwork so their work is a bit more difficult, in my opinion, as they have to interpret what has gone before them. Alternatively you might find this easy; basically it's up to the two of you to communicate with each other and decide who will be brave enough to create first. Then the partner creates.

After creation? Well, then you submit to the New beginnings Contest 2017 folder in this group. It will be open to accept submissions from non members, but if there are any problems DO NOT FEAR! I will be on hand to fix them, as will the rest of the admin staff. NOTE: Please title your works the same so we can see the pairs clearly. So if person 1 is the artist and they draw something they titled 'birth' then person 2's lit piece should also be titled 'birth'. Though do try to make your titles interesting too

After submission, what next? Then you wait for judgement to happen. There will be a team of judges (whom I am still gathering) who will judge the art and the literature based on rubrics. There will also be polls, on MagicalJoey 's home page, where you get to choose your favourite. The top three people's choice (chosen by you) will be awarded extra points and this will be added to the judges points and the winners will be announced after about a week or two. (To give time for all mathematics to be sufficiently handled, and to coincide with my off days from work).

Signup Time -:- January 1st - January 31st

Writing and Submission Time -:- February 1st - ~~February 28th~~ ~~March 4th~~ March 10th

Judging and Voting Time -:- ~~March 1st - March 10th~~ ~~March 5th - March 14th~~ March 11th - March 19th

Winners Announced -:- Hopefully by ~~March 12th~~ ~~March 15th~~ March 20th

Rules

One entry per person per pair please.

Literature can be poetry or prose:

MAX 3500 words for prose and 50 lines for poetry.
MIN 300 words for prose and 3 lines for poetry.

Art works can be any form:

There is no MAX or MIN size for artworks, but please keep them reasonable.

Please keep mature content to a minimum as there are some younger people involved.

Please place trigger warnings if needed.

In your artist's comments include:

That it is for Understood-Accepted 's "New Beginnings Contest"
A link to this journal
A link to your partner's piece (just in case either of you get lost)

Please title your works the same per pairing. Please try make titles interesting too.

This contest is open to all of deviantART, I am just choosing to host it through this group. So encourage your friends to signup. This will only work if we get enough pairings.
